The varroa mites reproduce and feed on the pupating honeybee larvae developing under the brood caps, transmitting viruses that cause deformities and weakens the bees, leading to colony collapse. MAQSkills both male and female varroa under the brood cap as well as the varroa on the adult bees, so it is effective against all stages of the varroa life cycle. MAQS targets varroa reproduction, treating varroa as a brood disease. The treatment period is 7 days. Pre-Harvest Interval: Zero Days.
MAQS is a whitish-to-caramel coloured flat rectangular saccharide gel strip in a laminated paper wrap formulation of formic acid. Appearance and texture of the strips may vary. Pest resistance is not expected to develop to MAQS.
